As a South Wales wedding photographer, I’ve worked at many beautiful venues, but there are some that truly stand out—and the Wolfscastle Country Hotel is undoubtedly one of them. Nestled in the heart of Pembrokeshire, this venue offers a perfect blend of elegance, comfort, and character, making it an exceptional choice for couples looking to create a memorable wedding day.
What immediately sets Wolfscastle Country Hotel apart is its reputation for quality. The wedding day at Wolfscastle often begins in the elegant Stirling Suite, where bridal preparations take place. The Stirling Suite offers a calm, spacious, and beautifully styled environment, perfect for those quieter, more intimate moments before the ceremony. There’s a real sense of anticipation during this time—final touches to hair and makeup, the dress being carefully prepared, and those special moments shared with close friends and family.
The natural light in the Garden Room is something I always appreciate as a wedding photographer. It allows me to document the ceremony in a clean, timeless way, capturing genuine emotion without distraction. The layout of the room also ensures that guests are fully engaged, which means I can capture those important reactions—smiles, laughter, and even a few tears—as the ceremony unfolds.
Following the ceremony, one of the highlights of the day is the confetti throw on the steps. This is always such a joyful and energetic moment, as guests gather to celebrate the newlyweds. The steps lead down into the stunning, well-kept gardens – One of the standout features of the hotel! These gardens provide the perfect setting for group photos and couple portraits, offering a beautiful and private space away from the main celebrations. I often take couples for a short walk through the grounds, giving them a chance to pause, take everything in, and enjoy a few moments together. The gardens are immaculately maintained and provide a soft, elegant backdrop that works beautifully in photographs.
In addition to the gardens, the surrounding area also offers some truly beautiful locations for photography. If time allows, there are opportunities to incorporate the wider scenery into the day, adding even more variety to the final gallery. The combination of the venue’s grounds and nearby landscapes means couples have access to a range of stunning backdrops, all within easy reach.
As the day continues into the reception, the quality of the venue really shines through. The dining experience reflects its 3 AA-Rosette status, and the attention to detail is evident in every aspect. Speeches are always a highlight, and the layout of the reception space allows me to capture both the speaker and the reactions of guests with ease.
As the day flows on, the atmosphere becomes increasingly relaxed and welcoming. This is when I naturally focus on capturing those candid, unscripted moments—guests offering congratulations, friends sharing laughter, and the newlyweds enjoying their first quiet moments together. With a variety of beautiful spaces throughout the venue, everything unfolds effortlessly, allowing these genuine interactions to happen without interruption.
The transition into the evening celebrations is smooth and natural. The atmosphere builds as the celebrations begin, and the energy on the dance floor creates a completely different feel to the earlier parts of the day. This is where I capture those fun, lively moments that bring the wedding story to life in a different way.
